Glovo redesigns its app for personalized experiences and AI-powered gifting

  • The tech company redesigns its iconic homepage to create tailored experiences for every customer and occasion
  • Glovo combines AI and Q-Commerce in a new gifting assistant to help customers find what they need

Barcelona, 19 June 2025 - The tech company Glovo has announced a new round of updates focused on personalising the user experience and enhancing product discovery. The iconic bubbles of the Glovo app’s homepage have been redesigned to better reflect what customers need at every moment, while a new AI assistant will find the perfect gift in seconds. Other new features include “Flash Deals” from restaurants and expanded social profiles to enhance in-app recommendations and connectivity.

Daniel Alonso, Chief Product Officer at Glovo, said: “We are handing the keys of personalization to our users. While we will showcase the most relevant content for them, we will also enable them to shape their Glovo’s homepage as they want.”

A smarter homepage, tailored to every user and occasion

As Glovo turns 10 years old, the new homepage evolves from the iconic Glovo bubbles to a new modular, adaptive layout that adjusts to each user based on location, behaviour, and preferences. The goal is to make ordering easier and discovery more relevant. Core categories are now simpler to browse, from groceries to health, gifts, and essentials. The homepage will also be adapted to different occasions like Christmas, Black Friday, Valentine’s Day or local festivities, to reflect what customers need even more effectively.

A new smart widget carousel at the bottom of the homepage now shows curated recommendations based on time, habits, and customer context: from breakfast at home or last-minute party items, to any other relevant occasion. Additionally, customers can customize the widget and pin their favourite stores and create tailored shortcuts to access what they want faster.

AI to make gifting effortless

Glovo is launching a new gifting journey inside the app, with a dedicated landing page and chatbot powered by AI that will help customers find the perfect gift. It’s designed to solve a common frustration: wanting to order or send a thoughtful gift, but not knowing where to start.

The new virtual assistant guides customers based on three simple inputs: occasion, recipient, and budget. Users can then swipe through suggestions, like or dismiss options, and add to cart, all in one journey.

Connie Kwok, VP of Q-Commerce at Glovo, said: “Gifting is one of the main reasons customers enter into the retail stores on Glovo. Thinking of the perfect gift should be simple, but often isn’t. With our new AI assistant, we’re bringing guidance and curation to a space that can often be overwhelming to create a combination of Q-Commerce and AI that is more helpful and user-centric.”

Flash Deals: new tool for restaurants, more value for users

Glovo is introducing Flash Deals; exclusive, time-limited discounts designed to help customers save money on food orders while providing local restaurants with a new marketing tool to attract customers and drive sales.

In a tough global economic climate, consumers are looking for more value in their purchases. Flash Deals make it easier to discover new restaurants at better prices. For local restaurants, Flash Deals offer high visibility across key areas of the Glovo app. And with a cost-per-order pricing model, partners only pay when they successfully acquire a new or returning customer, making it a low-risk, performance-driven growth tool.

Flash Deals are non-intrusive by design, seamlessly integrated into the organic customer journey.

Expanding the social experience

Following the launch of social features in October 2024, Glovo is now expanding user profiles. Every user will have a personalised profile with their name, photo, Picks, and favourite dishes. Friends can explore each other’s food journeys in real time, making social recommendations easier to act on.

“This is about bringing offline restaurant recommendations from friends inside our app. We want to make it easier for customers to decide what to order and friends can be a great source of inspiration and validation”, Alonso concluded.

The new features will be gradually rolled out across the 23 countries and more than 1,800 cities where Glovo operates.
