Our Pillars: Couriers

April 5, 2020 • 2 minutes

Couriers are professionals who deliver via the platform in the way they choose, when they choose. Whether it’s just a few hours a week or several days, they do it flexibly, through an app on their phone. Anyone with a bike, motorbike or car can become a Glovo courier. Globally, 35 thousand couriers deliver with Glovo and earn money through it.

As independent professionals, couriers are compensated for every order they deliver. Payments for orders is structured in the following way: a fixed base amount, to which is added payment per kilometre and payment for waiting time (for example, if the restaurant takes a long time to prepare the order). Other variables are also added into the equation: high-demand slots, bad weather, etc.

Roughly one week in advance, all couriers have the chance to choose their slots on the calendar: this is the point when they can decide how many slots they want to do and when they want to do them.

The operations team is in charge of all this working smoothly and making sure that all connected couriers have orders to pick up and deliver during their chosen slots. At Glovo we also have a Glover Experience (GX) team that’s in charge of improving the way the platform operates and working alongside couriers to make sure they use the platform in the best possible way.

This is how the collaboration works:
