Yesterday, we had the privilege to host one of the most exciting events of the year: Women In Tech. In this latest edition, we moved beyond generic discussions about challenges to focus on what truly moves the needle: impact, execution, and female leadership, all in the age of AI.

Our CTO, Shiro Theuri, opened the gathering with a powerful reflection that set the tone for the evening. When asked about her experience as a woman of color leading tech teams, Shiro was clear:

"The weight doesn't come from my identity as a woman or a person of color. The weight comes from the responsibility of being a CTO in the first place... serving millions of users all around the world".

Shiro shared impressive data regarding the adoption of Generative AI tools at Glovo. In just seven months, we have moved from 37% to 90% utilization of AI coding assistants across our tech team. For us, not embracing AI in 2026 is not an option.

On the other hand, Malvina Goldfeld, Co-Founder and CEO at Thyme Life, dove into the radical accountability of leadership. She highlighted that in the age of AI, the barrier to creation is lower than ever. Anyone can build and test ideas with minimal capital. The key is having the courage to take full ownership of the outcome, because if you own the problem and the solution, you already have everything you need to start.

AI as a catalyst for creativity

Mariana and Anna, from the Glovo UX team, demonstrated that AI isn't here to replace the human element but to speed up the parts that slow us down. By automating research and prototyping tasks, our teams can focus on what matters most. The bottom line was very clear: AI is an incredible accelerator, but the "craft" still belongs to us.

The "Fluid" Case Study

One of the event's highlights was the presentation by Laura and Pia from our Data team. They explained how they solved a critical data migration issue (from AWS to BigQuery) that threatened to disrupt over 1,000 critical spreadsheets used by operational teams.

Instead of a manual migration that would have taken months, they created an LLM-led tool that allows business users to self-migrate their queries without needing deep SQL expertise. The result? We estimated savings of more than 10 months of work for both business and engineering teams.

A Journey Rooted in History

What makes this event so special it’s the leadership of women only, who want to share their vision around AI and the future of tech. The event concluded with an interactive "reality check" that reminded us why we continue to work towards a more inclusive and diverse environment. In Shiro’s words, “If we want to truly transform the tech sector, we have to stop treating women's empowerment as a side project or a diversity metric. We must intentionally place women in roles that sit at the intersection of technology, product, and operations.”
